Best Laminate Flooring Brands for 2027: Swiss Krono, Egger, Kronotex, Krono, Goodfellow and Riche by Spec

See eight laminate brands we stock in one table, with AC rating, thickness, plank width and price per sq ft, plus one in-stock floor from seven of them to help you choose for 2027.

No laminate brand wins on every line of the spec sheet, so the sensible way to shop for the best laminate flooring brands for 2027 is to compare what each brand's floors actually offer: AC rating, thickness, plank width and price per square foot. We have 130 laminate floors in stock with a listed box coverage in our laminate flooring collection, and eight brand names account for 124 of them. This page puts those eight side by side, then picks one in-stock floor from seven of them so you can see real boxes with real prices. It does not rank brands or forecast 2027 prices. For what an AC5 rating means, see our 2026 AC5 laminate brand overview, and for colour and style direction read what flooring will be in style in 2027.

Quick answer: which brand suits which job

  • Entry price bands: Sunshiny and Riche Flooring sit at the bottom of the price table below. Neither states an AC rating in most of its titles: none of Riche's 12 in-stock floors do, and 14 of Sunshiny's 20 do not.
  • AC5 written in every title: Kronotex (15 of 15 in-stock floors) and Goodfellow (6 of 6).
  • Wide price range: Swiss Krono, with floors from $1.79 to $3.59 per sq ft and titles that run from AC3 to AC6, plus five more that state no rating.
  • Thickest planks: Sunshiny goes up to 15mm, while Swiss Krono and Krono go up to 14mm.
  • Most floors to choose from: Krono, with 29 in stock.

These are readings of our own catalogue, not ratings or scores. Where a brand's titles are silent on a spec, the table says so instead of filling the gap.

The laminate brands we stock, side by side

Each row counts only floors that are active, in stock and have a box coverage on file. AC rating and origin are shown as the listing titles write them. Thickness comes from the title or the thickness field, and width counts a product only where the title and the width field do not contradict each other. Price per sq ft is box price divided by sq ft per box, rounded to the cent.

Brand In stock AC rating in titles Thickness Plank width Origin in titles Price per sq ft

The other six in-stock laminates sit under smaller labels and are left out of the table. Across all 130 counted floors, AC5 appears in 40 titles, AC3 in 34, AC4 in 17 and 5 titles state AC6, while 34 titles state no AC rating. Germany is written in 65 titles and Europe in 7. The brand name alone therefore tells you less than the exact listing does: Krono runs from AC3 to AC6 and Swiss Krono does as well, while Kronotex and Goodfellow are uniform on the rating their titles state.

Reading AC, thickness and width across brands

The AC figure is the first number to compare, and it is worth knowing where it comes from. EPLF, the association of European laminate producers, says a laminate floor's abrasion resistance is "established in what is known as a Taber test" and then placed in an abrasion class under the Euro standard EN 13329. We repeat each rating only as the listing title writes it and have not tested any floor ourselves. Where a title is silent, ask for the maker's document before you order.

Thickness is easy to overrate. EGGER's own flooring FAQ says that for a laminate's suitability in an application area, "the thickness or gauge of the flooring is not decisive". What matters, EGGER adds, is that the floor covering has the correct stress class for the area. In our stock the 14mm Swiss Krono K223 is AC6 by its title while the 15mm Sunshiny SL7645 states no rating, so thickness and AC rating clearly move independently.

For laminate thickness, AC rating and plank width, see our guide to laminate flooring trends for 2027.

Width needs one caveat. For some floors, the width in the title and the width in the catalogue's width field differ slightly. We leave that width out of the comparison rather than choose one, which is why several widths read "confirm at quote" in the brand table above and in the picks below.

One in-stock floor from each brand

Each pick is a live listing as of the price date above. Kronoswiss has only two floors in stock, so it appears in the table but has no pick.

Brand Pick Box price and coverage Price per sq ft AC rating in title Thickness Width
Krono A2221 Chaotic $51.94 per 15.93 sq ft box $3.26 AC5 12mm 7.56 in
Egger EM7204 $48.29 per 16.15 sq ft box $2.99 AC5 11mm Confirm at quote
Swiss Krono K223 Wilderness Oak $41.04 per 13.28 sq ft box $3.09 AC6 14mm Confirm at quote
Sunshiny SL7645 $32.99 per 16.58 sq ft box $1.99 Not stated 15mm 5 in
Kronotex 2999 $46.13 per 14.93 sq ft box $3.09 AC5 12mm Confirm at quote
Riche Flooring Amber Walnut $26.03 per 15.4 sq ft box $1.69 Not stated 12mm Confirm at quote
Goodfellow Prag No.028 $60.54 per 20.18 sq ft box $3.00 AC5 12mm Confirm at quote

Krono A2221 Chaotic: the mixed-tone pick

Krono has the largest selection in stock, and A2221 Chaotic is its most expensive floor per sq ft at $3.26. Its title states AC5 and the thickness field says 12mm. The look is the draw here: the photo below shows planks in several different shades laid together, which suits a rustic, mixed-wood room better than a uniform colour. Krono's 29 floors have titles that range from AC3 to AC6, so read the title of the exact floor, not the brand name.

Egger EM7204: the 11mm German pick

Egger's 20 floors are 8mm or 11mm, and the Egger EM7204 laminate is an 11mm board whose title states AC5 and Germany. At $2.99 per sq ft it is the top of Egger's own price range. On construction, EGGER states: "Only HDF core boards are used for EGGER floors." It adds that HDF stands for high-density fibreboard. If you are weighing Egger against two other German names, our Egger, Kronotex and Swiss Krono comparison takes that decision on its own.

Swiss Krono K223 Wilderness Oak: the 14mm pick

One of the thickest floors in the table is the Swiss Krono K223, which is 14mm and states AC6 and Made in Germany in its title. Its box is the smallest of the seven picks at 13.28 sq ft, so a $41.04 box price works out to $3.09 per sq ft, the same as the Kronotex pick at $46.13 for 14.93 sq ft. Box price alone would have suggested a gap that is not there. Our German laminate brands comparison sets Swiss Krono against its neighbours.

Sunshiny SL7645: the 15mm budget pick

Sunshiny SL7645 is the thickest floor in the table at 15mm and, at $1.99, the top of Sunshiny's own range. Its title does not state an AC rating, and neither do most Sunshiny titles. Treat it as a price-led option and confirm the rating before you commit. Our Sunshiny laminate review covers the whole line in detail.

Kronotex 2999: the AC5-in-every-title pick

Every in-stock Kronotex title states AC5, and the Kronotex 2999 laminate is a 12mm Germany-labelled board. A maker's warranty can differ from one collection to the next. Kronotex's own manufacturer's declaration dated 2017 lists periods such as "Mammut 30 years 5 years" and "Exquisit 25 years 3 years", the first figure for private use and the second for commercial. Our titles do not name the collection, so ask which one a Kronotex floor belongs to before you assume a term. For the wider German field, see our German-made laminate brands guide.

Riche Flooring Amber Walnut: the entry-price pick

At $1.69 per sq ft, Amber Walnut has the smallest per-sq-ft figure among the seven picks. It is 12mm with an EIR finish named in the title, and no Riche Flooring title in stock states an AC rating or an origin. The photo shows the colour in a styled living room, a warm medium-brown wood tone.

Goodfellow Prag No.028: the narrow-range pick

Goodfellow's six floors sit between $3.00 and $3.02 per sq ft, so price barely separates them. The Prag No.028 has the largest box of the seven, 20.18 sq ft, which is why a $60.54 box still comes to $3.00 per sq ft. Goodfellow's Floorpan Elite XL page lists FXL028 Prag among its decors and says the line is "Backed by a 25-year residential warranty and a 15-year commercial warranty". The same page says "its 72-hour water resistance" is a standout feature. Those are Goodfellow's statements about that line, so ask us for the document that covers this exact floor.

Choosing by what you care about most

  • If price decides: start with Sunshiny and Riche Flooring, then ask for the AC rating of the exact floor, since their titles rarely state one.
  • If you want the rating in writing: Kronotex and Goodfellow state AC5 in every in-stock title, and Egger and Krono each have floors that do too.
  • If you want a thick plank: the 14mm Swiss Krono K223 states AC6, and the 15mm Sunshiny SL7645 is the cheaper route.
  • If you want fewer, larger boxes: the Goodfellow Prag box covers 20.18 sq ft, against 13.28 sq ft for the Swiss Krono K223.
  • If you want a maker document behind the floor: Goodfellow and Kronotex each publish one, as quoted above, but each covers a product line, so match it to your exact floor.

Laminate brand FAQ

Which laminate flooring brand should I buy for 2027?

The one whose exact floor matches the spec you need at a price per sq ft you accept. Brand names span several ratings and thicknesses here, so start from AC rating, thickness and room, then read the listing. We do not predict what 2027 prices or stock will look like.

Does a thicker laminate mean a better brand?

No. Thickness and AC rating are separate lines of the spec. The 14mm Swiss Krono pick states AC6, while the 15mm Sunshiny pick states no AC rating at all, so a larger millimetre figure says nothing about how the surface is rated.

How do I compare laminate prices between brands?

Divide the box price by the sq ft in the box. Goodfellow Prag's $60.54 box looks dearer than Krono A2221's $51.94 box, yet 60.54 / 20.18 is $3.00 per sq ft against 51.94 / 15.93, which is $3.26.

Which of your laminate brands state AC5?

Across all 130 counted in-stock floors, 40 titles state AC5. Kronotex and Goodfellow account for 21 of them, and Egger, Krono, Swiss Krono and Kronoswiss share most of the rest. If a title says nothing, ask us before you order.

Does the brand name tell me the warranty?

Not by itself. Warranty periods can differ by collection, and many of our titles do not name one, so ask for the document that matches the exact floor you are buying.
