Which wood and vinyl floor colours are on the radar for 2027, and which of them can you buy today? The two 2027 surveys we cite speak about hardwood, so this page does two jobs. It first states what those surveys say about colour, then sorts the floors in our SPC vinyl plank collection and our engineered and solid hardwood into tone families by the colour word in each product name, with counts, wear layers and prices per square foot. For the buy-now-or-wait question and the wider picture, read what flooring will be in style in 2027. This page keeps to flooring colour trends 2027 and to what is in stock.
What the 2027 reports say about wood colour, and what they leave out about vinyl
The Anderson Tuftex 2027 Floor Forecast is based on a custom study with The Harris Poll of high-net-worth homeowners and interior designers across the United States. Its hardwood colour line reads in three parts: 37% of homeowners favour warm natural and honey tones, 13% prefer medium and chocolate browns, and 11% gravitate toward smoky midtones with soft hints of gray, charcoal or brown. Among the interior designers surveyed, 52% said light finishes are gaining popularity.
The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) reached a different group. Its 2027 Industry Outlook comes from an online survey of NWFA members and Hardwood Floors magazine readers. In that survey, 75 percent of respondents expect demand for gray tones to decline in 2027. The report also quotes a vice president of Rapaport Wood Floors, who sees honey and amber tones gaining traction as the market moves away from cooler, gray-heavy palettes. We leave the headline survey table to our general 2027 post and use only these colour lines.
Two limits matter before you shop from this. Neither survey is a poll of Toronto households, so read them as a direction from high-net-worth homeowners and designers in the United States and from the wood-flooring trade. And the lines above are about hardwood: we found no qualifying 2027 source that names rising or fading vinyl colours, so this page makes no claim about vinyl colour trends. For vinyl it simply shows what is in stock.
How we sorted our in-stock floors into tone families
Every count below comes from our catalogue on October 30, 2026 and covers active products that are in stock: 87 SPC vinyl planks, 63 engineered hardwood floors and 145 solid hardwood floors. Each floor goes into one family according to the first colour word in its product title, using this word list:
- Natural, sand and honey: natural, sand, honey, golden, amber, caramel, butterscotch, toffee, beige, oat, wheat.
- Brown and dark: brown, dark, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, espresso, mocha, cappuccino, latte, java, moka, ebony, black, charcoal, noir, chestnut, hazelnut, plus walnut on vinyl only.
- Grey and greige: grey, gray, greige, silver, pewter, slate, graphite, titanium, anthracite.
- White, cream and pale: white, cream, ivory, pale, blonde, linen, cloud, frost, frosted, arctic.
Walnut counts as a colour on vinyl but is a species on wood, so it is skipped for wood. A name such as Villa or Havana carries no colour word, so that floor lands in a fifth group, "no colour word", and we do not guess its tone from the name. Laminate is not part of these tables.
Vinyl plank (SPC) by tone: how many, at which wear layer, at what price
The table shows how many SPC planks sit in each tone family, how many carry a 20mil or a 12mil wear layer (read from each product's wear-level field), and the price per square foot. Price per square foot is box price divided by square feet per box, rounded to cents. The median is the middle value of the floors in that row, and the starting figure is the lowest in the row.
| Tone family (SPC) | In stock | 20mil | 12mil | Median $/sq ft | Starting $/sq ft |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Natural, sand and honey | 18 | 12 | 6 | $2.49 | $1.99 |
| Brown and dark | 13 | 2 | 10 | $2.19 | $1.89 |
| Grey and greige | 15 | 5 | 10 | $2.39 | $1.89 |
| White, cream and pale | 15 | 7 | 8 | $2.25 | $1.89 |
| No colour word | 26 | 11 | 9 | $3.21 | $1.89 |
Prices checked October 30, 2026. Box prices and coverage come from our current catalogue.
One brown floor and 6 floors with no colour word have no wear level listed, which is why those rows do not add up across the wear columns.
Natural, sand and honey: the largest named row, and mostly 20mil
This is the biggest row that carries a colour word, with 18 floors, and 12 of them have a 20mil wear layer. The words matched are Golden, Honey, Natural, Sand, Caramel, Amber, Butterscotch, Oat and Wheat. Prices run from $1.99 to $3.35 per square foot, and the top of that range is the price of the two 10mm planks in the table further down, Oat Meadow and Amber Grain, which share the same box price and coverage. These names sit closest to the warm natural and honey tones in the hardwood survey above, though the survey says nothing about vinyl.
Brown and dark: 13 floors, mostly 12mil
Here the balance flips. Of the 13 brown and dark floors, 10 have a 12mil wear layer and only 2 have 20mil. The row starts at $1.89 per square foot and its median is $2.19, the lowest median of the four named rows. The words matched are Brown, Walnut, Charcoal, Dark, Cocoa, Espresso and Mocha. Seawall Brown is a typical example: a 9mm plank listed as "12mil - Residential", at $2.45 per square foot. If you want a brown plank with a 20mil wear layer, the choice narrows to those 2 floors.
Grey, greige, white and cream in one place
Grey and greige hold 15 floors, 5 of them 20mil, and white, cream and pale also hold 15, with 7 at 20mil. The second row is the one to open if you are after a light colour vinyl plank. The designer survey above was about light hardwood finishes, so treat that as a loose parallel rather than a vinyl trend. Grey and greige each have a post of their own, so this page keeps to the numbers.
Engineered and solid wood by tone: where the warm rows are thin
Wood is where the surveys speak, so the tone counts matter more here. The table splits our engineered hardwood collection from solid hardwood, with the starting price per square foot for engineered.
| Tone family (wood) | Engineered in stock | Solid in stock | Engineered starting $/sq ft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Natural, sand and honey | 4 | 14 | $2.89 |
| Brown and dark | 15 | 34 | $3.53 |
| Grey and greige | 10 | 8 | $3.99 |
| White, cream and pale | 6 | 2 | $3.99 |
| No colour word | 28 | 87 | $3.50 |
Set against the surveys, our engineered shelf is not weighted toward warm names. Only 4 of the 63 engineered floors carry a natural, sand or honey word (Natural three times and Toffee once), against 15 in brown and dark and 10 in grey and greige. That does not mean warm oak is scarce. With 28 engineered floors carrying no colour word, the true warm share could be larger, and our walk-through of every European oak colour sorts those by eye instead of by name.
The brown row on engineered is the widest: Mocha, Hazelnut, Cappuccino, Cocoa, Java, Latte, Moka, Brown, Dark, Black and Charcoal all match. Grey and greige on engineered matches Silver, Grey, Gray, Pewter, Slate and Titanium, and the white row matches White and Cloud. Solid hardwood is more spread out: its natural row matches Natural, Golden and Butterscotch, and 87 of the 145 solid floors carry no colour word at all. If you want to compare pale and natural oak directly, our guide to white-washed vs natural oak does that job.

Six in-stock floors in the natural and brown rows, with live prices
Three vinyl planks and three engineered oak boards cover two of the tone rows, natural, sand and honey and brown and dark. All six are active and in stock, and each price per square foot is worked out the same way as in the vinyl table above. Oat Meadow and Amber Grain share one row because their box price and coverage are identical, and so do Natural and Latte.
| Floor | Tone row | Construction | Box price and coverage | $/sq ft |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oat Meadow and Amber Grain (SPC) | Natural, sand and honey | 10mm, 20mil | $39.60 per 11.82 sq ft | $3.35 |
| Seawall Brown (SPC) | Brown and dark | 9mm, 12mil | $33.79 per 13.79 sq ft | $2.45 |
| Natural and Latte (engineered oak) | Natural is in natural, sand and honey; Latte is in brown and dark | 3/4" thick, 3mm top layer, 7 1/2" wide | $83.31 per 19.42 sq ft | $4.29 |
| Mocha (engineered oak) | Brown and dark | 3/4" thick, 4mm top layer, 7 1/2" wide | $93.02 per 19.42 sq ft | $4.79 |
Two comparisons stand out. Oat Meadow costs $0.90 more per square foot than Seawall Brown, and it is a thicker 10mm plank with a 20mil wear layer, against 9mm and 12mil. On the wood side, Mocha is $0.50 per square foot above Latte, and its top layer is 4mm in place of 3mm. Latte and Mocha both carry coffee-drink names, so our word list puts them in the brown row; that is a naming convention, not a measured shade.
Choosing a tone from the numbers
- Warm vinyl with the thicker wear layer: start in the natural, sand and honey row, where 12 of 18 floors are 20mil.
- Brown vinyl at a lower median: the brown and dark row has a median of $2.19 per square foot, but most of it is 12mil, so check the label on the one you pick.
- Light vinyl: the white, cream and pale row has 15 floors, 7 at 20mil, starting at $1.89 per square foot.
- Engineered oak: the named rows are brown and dark (15), grey and greige (10), white and cream (6) and natural (4), and 28 floors need a look at the board itself.

Questions about 2027 flooring colours
Which wood floor colours do the 2027 surveys favour?
In the Anderson Tuftex forecast, warm natural and honey tones led for hardwood among homeowners, ahead of medium and chocolate browns. In the NWFA outlook, 75 percent of respondents expect gray tone demand to fall. Both samples are trade or high-net-worth groups, not Toronto households.
Is there a 2027 colour report for vinyl plank?
We did not find a qualifying one. The sources we could verify are about hardwood, so we describe vinyl only by what is in stock: 87 SPC planks, sorted by the colour word in their names.
Which vinyl tone has the most 20mil planks?
Natural, sand and honey, with 12 of its 18 floors at 20mil. White, cream and pale follows with 7 of 15.
What colours does engineered hardwood come in?
Among our 63 in-stock engineered floors, 15 carry a brown or dark colour word, 10 grey, 6 white and 4 natural or toffee, while 28 names carry no colour word. Our European oak colour guide shows each board.
Do you have a light colour vinyl plank?
The white, cream and pale row holds 15 SPC floors, starting at $1.89 per square foot, and seven carry a 20mil wear layer. Matched words include Arctic, Cream, Frost, Linen, Pale, Blonde, Cloud, Ivory and White.
