Our shortlist is built from what we actually sell rather than a ranking of national names: 80 of the 87 SPC floors we have in stock are Riche Flooring, six of the seven floors priced below carry that name, and the seventh is a Goodfellow plank. That makes the series, meaning thickness, wear layer, pad and plank size, the choice that changes your floor more than the logo on the box.
Every figure comes from our live vinyl flooring collection, which lists 102 products, and from seven floors picked to cover each series. This page does not discuss style direction; for that, read what flooring will be in style in 2027. If you want the wider overview with care and installation advice, our best SPC vinyl plank brands for 2026 guide covers it.
Quick answer: which series suits which job
- Entry point on price: Taupe Grey Oak, a 6mm plank with a 12 mil wear layer and an IXPE pad named in the title.
- Second IXPE-pad colour: Smoked Walnut, also 12 mil, in a different colour from Taupe Grey Oak.
- Thicker, 8mm at 12 mil: Plateau Walnut from the Montreal collection.
- 8mm with a 20 mil wear layer: Nordic Frost, the heavy-duty 8mm series.
- 9mm with an EVA pad in the title: Reclaimed Barnwood.
- Thickest of the seven, with a 20 mil wear layer: Morning Birch, the ultra-thick 10mm series.
- A non-Riche brand: the Goodfellow Avalanche 3378 Lake Canyon, an 8mm plank with the highest price per square foot of the seven.
Seven floors compared by thickness, wear layer and pad
The table lists what our catalogue and listing titles state for each floor, one row per series. For the Goodfellow plank, whose spec fields carry no wear layer or pad, those two cells come from its product page. "Not named" means the listing title does not name a pad.
| Floor | Brand | Thickness | Wear layer | Pad |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Taupe Grey Oak | Riche Flooring | 6mm | 12 mil | IXPE |
| Smoked Walnut | Riche Flooring | - | 12 mil | IXPE |
| Plateau Walnut (Montreal) | Riche Flooring | 8mm | 12 mil | Not named |
| Nordic Frost (Heavy-Duty) | Riche Flooring | 8mm | 20 mil | Not named |
| Reclaimed Barnwood | Riche Flooring | 9mm | 12 mil | EVA |
| Morning Birch (Ultra-Thick) | Riche Flooring | 10mm | 20 mil | Not named |
| Avalanche 3378 Lake Canyon | Goodfellow | 8mm | About 20 mil | EVA (product page) |
Where a listing's title and its spec field give different thicknesses or plank widths, we print no number for that floor: the dash in the Thickness column is one such case, and the table has no width column because most of the seven disagree. Plank width is best read off each product page; the Goodfellow title, for instance, gives 5.9". All seven are listed as click-lock, and the six Riche floors are listed as waterproof in our catalogue. The Goodfellow page calls its plank a waterproof SPC vinyl plank.
For wear layer, thickness and plank width trends, see our guide to vinyl plank flooring trends for 2027.
Our catalogue tags the 12 mil floors as Residential and the 20 mil floors as Commercial / Heavy Duty. How much that gap matters for your room is covered in our 12 mil vs 20 mil explainer. The thickness figures in the table are total thickness as our product pages state it, with the attached pad included, so they are not core measurements. Core versus total thickness and EVA versus IXPE pads has its own guide, so we leave that debate there.
What each floor costs per square foot
Box sizes differ a lot from series to series, so a box price on its own can mislead. Dividing each box price by its coverage puts the seven floors on the same footing.
| Floor | Box price | Coverage per box | Price per sq ft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taupe Grey Oak | $44.68 | 23.64 sq ft | $1.89 |
| Smoked Walnut | $42.33 | 21.27 sq ft | $1.99 |
| Plateau Walnut (Montreal) | $34.54 | 15.77 sq ft | $2.19 |
| Nordic Frost (Heavy-Duty) | $37.24 | 16.55 sq ft | $2.25 |
| Reclaimed Barnwood | $32.96 | 13.79 sq ft | $2.39 |
| Morning Birch (Ultra-Thick) | $39.60 | 11.82 sq ft | $3.35 |
| Avalanche 3378 Lake Canyon (Goodfellow) | $89.37 | 14.92 sq ft | $5.99 |
Prices checked October 30, 2026. Box prices and coverage come from our current catalogue; all seven were active and in stock on that date.
Three readings stand out. The six Riche floors run from $1.89 to $3.35 per sq ft, a spread of $1.46. Reclaimed Barnwood has the lowest box price of the seven at $32.96 but sits fifth by price per sq ft, because a box covers only 13.79 sq ft. Goodfellow's Avalanche is the only floor above $3.35.
Every SPC floor in stock: vendors and Riche series
The seven floors above are a sample of a longer list. On the same day we counted every SPC floor that was active and in stock in our catalogue: 87 floors from five vendors, and Riche Flooring supplies 80 of them.
| Vendor | SPC floors in stock | Price per sq ft |
|---|---|---|
| Riche Flooring | 80 | $1.89 to $3.35 |
| Top Floorings Depot | 3 | $3.12 to $3.69 |
| Goodfellow | 2 | $3.99 to $5.99 |
| BiYork | 1 | $3.49 |
| Pangol Flooring | 1 | $7.06 |
Inside Riche, a series is a set of listings that share a thickness, a wear layer and a single price per sq ft, so each row below is one price point. A dash means the titles and spec fields give two different thicknesses, so we print none.
| Riche series | In stock | Thickness | Wear layer | Pad | Price per sq ft |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6mm IXPE (Taupe Grey Oak) | 9 | 6mm | 12 mil | IXPE | $1.89 |
| Second IXPE line (Smoked Walnut) | 10 | - | 12 mil | IXPE | $1.99 |
| 8mm EVA | 7 | 8mm | 12 mil | EVA | $2.15 |
| Montreal 8mm (Plateau Walnut) | 4 | 8mm | 12 mil | Not named | $2.19 |
| Heavy-Duty 8mm (Nordic Frost) | 8 | 8mm | 20 mil | Not named | $2.25 |
| 9mm EVA at 12 mil (Reclaimed Barnwood) | 8 | 9mm | 12 mil | EVA | $2.39 |
| 9mm with 12 mil in the title | 5 | 9mm | 12 mil | Not named | $2.45 |
| 9mm EVA at 20 mil | 5 | 9mm | 20 mil | EVA | $2.49 |
| 10mm EVA | 9 | 10mm | 20 mil | EVA | $3.29 |
| Ultra-Thick 10mm (Morning Birch) | 15 | 10mm | 20 mil | Not named | $3.35 |
The 20 mil rows start at $2.25 per sq ft in the Heavy-Duty 8mm series. Ultra-Thick 10mm, with 15 floors, and the second IXPE line, with 10, are the two largest series, so they offer the most listings to choose from. The two 9mm EVA series are priced at $2.39 per sq ft at 12 mil and $2.49 at 20 mil, a gap of $0.10 per sq ft between the two listings.
Series by series: what each one is built for
6mm and the IXPE pair: Taupe Grey Oak and Smoked Walnut
Taupe Grey Oak is the entry point of the seven at $1.89 per sq ft: 6mm thick, with a 12 mil wear layer and IXPE pad, all as the listing states. Smoked Walnut keeps the 12 mil wear layer and the IXPE pad at $1.99 per sq ft, a gap of $0.10 over Taupe Grey Oak. Pick between them on colour first; the price difference is small.
This pair suits a room where budget leads and the surface sees ordinary household use, such as a bedroom or home office. If the room is a busy entry or a kitchen, look one step up the table to a 20 mil series instead.
8mm: Plateau Walnut at 12 mil or Nordic Frost at 20 mil
Both floors in this pair are listed at 8mm, so the wear layer is the spec that stands out between them. Plateau Walnut in the Montreal collection is 12 mil at $2.19 per sq ft. Nordic Frost, from the heavy-duty series, is 20 mil at $2.25 per sq ft, a difference of $0.06 per sq ft between the two listings.
At that gap, Nordic Frost is worth a look for anyone already shopping 8mm. Plateau Walnut still makes sense when you prefer its walnut tone, or when your colour choice outweighs a small price difference. Confirm the plank width of each on its product page before you compare the two for plank size.
9mm with an EVA pad: Reclaimed Barnwood
Reclaimed Barnwood is the only floor here listed at 9mm, with a 12 mil wear layer and an EVA pad in its title. At $2.39 per sq ft it costs $0.20 more than Plateau Walnut, which is the next 12 mil floor down the price list. The reason to choose it is the added thickness and the EVA pad named in its title, not a wear-layer upgrade, so be clear about which of those you are paying for.
10mm: Morning Birch
Morning Birch is the thickest of the seven at 10mm, with a 20 mil wear layer, and the highest-priced Riche floor of the seven at $3.35 per sq ft. That is $1.10 above Nordic Frost, which also has a 20 mil wear layer, so the two listings differ in thickness: 10mm against 8mm. It is a choice for buyers who specifically want that thickness, not a default.
Its box covers only 11.82 sq ft, the smallest coverage of the seven, so count boxes carefully when you order.
Goodfellow Avalanche: the one non-Riche floor here
The Goodfellow Avalanche 3378 Lake Canyon is an 8mm plank at $5.99 per sq ft. That is $3.80 above Plateau Walnut and $3.74 above Nordic Frost, the two Riche 8mm floors. Its spec fields give no wear layer or pad, so the table takes both from its product page. Our Goodfellow versus Riche comparison holds the head-to-head, so this guide gives the plank one row and stops there.
Choosing between brands and series
With six of seven floors from one maker, brand matters less than the series sheet. Work through these in order:
- Decide the wear layer first. Choose 12 mil for light-use rooms and 20 mil for kitchens, entries and other busy floors.
- Then check the pad. If the title names IXPE or EVA, the pad is attached. If it does not, read the product page before you budget for separate underlayment.
- Then pick the thickness. Within a wear layer, the 6mm, 8mm, 9mm and 10mm series are separated by price per sq ft, so the table above is the tie-breaker.
- Confirm plank width on the product page before you order, because listing titles and spec fields can differ.
- Read the warranty for the exact series before you order. We quote none here.
Two habits keep the comparison honest. Compare price per sq ft, not box price: the $32.96 Reclaimed Barnwood box and the $39.60 Morning Birch box look close, yet one covers 13.79 sq ft and the other 11.82 sq ft. And change one variable at a time, so that a price gap can be traced to a single difference in the listing.
For every Riche collection in one place, see our Riche Flooring buyer's guide. This page only gives each series a row.
What this guide does not claim
We have not quoted any manufacturer warranty, and we do not present any of these seven as a new 2027 release. They are the floors in our catalogue on October 30, 2026, and the specs and prices are the ones in our own listings. We make no prediction about 2027 prices or supply.
FAQ: LVP and SPC brands and series
Which floor in this guide has the smallest price per square foot?
Taupe Grey Oak, at $1.89 per sq ft, followed by Smoked Walnut at $1.99. Both are listed at 12 mil and name an IXPE pad.
Which of these floors have a 20 mil wear layer?
Nordic Frost and Morning Birch are listed at 20 mil, and the Goodfellow product page gives its wear layer as about 20 mil. The other four Riche floors are 12 mil.
Do these floors come with a pad attached?
Taupe Grey Oak and Smoked Walnut name an IXPE pad in their titles, and Reclaimed Barnwood names an EVA pad. The other four listings do not name a pad in their titles, so check each product page.
Is Goodfellow a better choice than Riche?
Our data cannot rank brands. It shows that the Goodfellow plank costs more per square foot than every Riche floor here, so the extra money should buy something specific you want from that brand.
Are any of these floors a 2027 collection?
We do not describe any of them that way. Treat them as current catalogue floors and check the listing for the specs and price before you order.
How do I price the installation?
Installation is quoted separately from the material figures in this guide. Send us your room size and the floor you prefer through the quote page.
