Choosing honey oak vinyl plank flooring comes down to three practical questions: how warm a tone you want, how heavy a wear layer you need, and how many boxes your room really takes. Right now 14 in-stock SPC vinyl plank colours carry a warm name (honey, golden, caramel, butterscotch, amber, acacia, teak or hickory), and their prices run from $2.77 to $5.08 per sq ft. This page compares six of them using the box prices, coverage and spec fields from our catalogue. One thing to know up front: hickory, acacia and teak are printed looks on vinyl, not those woods. You can browse every colour in our SPC vinyl plank collection.

Quick answer: which warm colour suits which job

Decide how light you want the floor to feel, then check the wear layer and the box size. This is how the six colours we feature line up:

  • Golden Prairie: the palest golden oak of the group, an 8mm plank with a 20mil wear layer.
  • Honey Ridge: a classic honey-tan oak, a 10mm plank with a 20mil wear layer.
  • Golden Harvest Oak: a mid-tone golden oak, 9mm with a 20mil wear layer.
  • Golden Hickory: a deeper tan-brown hickory look, 8mm with a 12mil wear layer.
  • Pacific Teak: a golden teak look, 9mm with a 12mil wear layer.
  • Warm Acacia: the darkest of the six, with a swirling acacia-style grain, 9mm with a 12mil wear layer.

All six are click-lock planks, and each one is marked as waterproof in our product data. The tone descriptions on this page come from looking at the product photos, so treat them as a guide and confirm the shade you pick.

Warm SPC colours compared: thickness, wear layer and price

We sell vinyl plank by the box, so we divide the box price by the square feet in the box to get a price per sq ft you can compare across colours.

Colour Thickness Wear layer Box price Sq ft per box Price per sq ft
Golden Prairie 8mm 20mil $59.00 16.55 sq ft $3.56
Honey Ridge 10mm 20mil $59.00 11.82 sq ft $4.99
Golden Harvest Oak 9mm 20mil $62.00 14.18 sq ft $4.37
Golden Hickory 8mm 12mil $59.00 15.77 sq ft $3.74
Pacific Teak 9mm 12mil $69.99 13.79 sq ft $5.08
Warm Acacia 9mm 12mil $62.00 13.79 sq ft $4.50

Prices checked October 4, 2026. Box prices and coverage come from our current catalogue.

Wear layer and price do not move together here. Golden Prairie and Golden Hickory are both 8mm, yet the 12mil Golden Hickory costs $0.18 more per sq ft than the 20mil Golden Prairie. Our product data labels the 20mil layer "Commercial / Heavy Duty" and the 12mil layer "Residential", so a busy kitchen or entry can lean toward the 20mil colours. Golden Prairie shows that the heavier rating does not have to cost more.

Honey and golden oak: the lighter warm tones

Honey oak vinyl plank flooring sits between pale natural oak and the darker caramels: it adds colour without turning orange or red. In practice, honey and golden oak are a sensible warm choice for a room with limited daylight, because a lighter tan keeps more light in the space.

Golden Prairie is the lightest of our golden oaks. The product photo shows fine, mostly straight grain with a few darker streaks, and no strong knots. At $59.00 per 16.55 sq ft box it is $3.56 per sq ft, less than any of the other five featured colours.

Honey Ridge is the more recognisable honey tone, a touch deeper and more tan. It is also the thicker plank at 10mm, with the same 20mil wear layer, but a box covers only 11.82 sq ft, so the per-sq-ft price is $4.99. Plan for more boxes than you would with Golden Prairie, as the cost section below shows.

Three more honey-named colours are worth a look. Natural Honey Oak is a 9mm plank with a 20mil wear layer at $4.37 per sq ft, and Honey Wheat Oak is a 9mm plank with a 12mil layer at $4.50 per sq ft. Honey Harvest Oak is the lowest-priced of those 14 colours: $59.00 per 21.27 sq ft box works out to $2.77 per sq ft, and the plank carries a 12mil layer plus an IXPE pad listed in its title.

If the tone of Honey Ridge is close but not quite right, four other colours share its 10mm plank, 20mil wear layer and $4.99 price per sq ft: Toasted Caramel Oak, Amber Grain, Butterscotch Pine and Caramel Dune. They also share its 11.82 sq ft box, so switching between them changes the shade but not the box count or the material total.

Hickory, acacia and teak looks on vinyl: what the names mean

On these three colours the name describes the pattern printed on the plank, not the material underneath. Every plank in this article is SPC vinyl. In our current catalogue, hickory, acacia and teak appear only in SPC vinyl product titles; none of our hardwood or engineered hardwood titles uses those species. If you want the actual wood, that is a different product and a different budget, and we do not list it.

Golden Hickory: a tan-brown hickory look

Golden Hickory suits anyone who wants a deeper, caramel-brown floor at a modest price. The photo shows a medium tan-brown with darker streaks and ripples in the grain, noticeably richer than Golden Prairie. It is an 8mm plank at 12mil, and its title lists an EVA pad. A box is $59.00 for 15.77 sq ft, or $3.74 per sq ft.

Pacific Teak: golden teak on a 9mm plank

Pacific Teak is the highest-priced colour in the warm range: $69.99 per 13.79 sq ft box, or $5.08 per sq ft, with a 12mil wear layer. The product photo is a rendered living room, where the floor reads as a warm golden tan against white walls and dark furniture. Treat that kind of image as a guide to the mood rather than an exact colour match.

Warm Acacia: the darkest, most figured option

Warm Acacia has the most dramatic look of the six. The photo shows deep chestnut-brown boards with swirling dark figure and strong variation from plank to plank. That variation can feel lively in a living room and busy in a small one. It is 9mm with a 12mil wear layer, and the title says an EVA pad is included. At $62.00 per 13.79 sq ft box it comes to $4.50 per sq ft.

What 300 sq ft of warm vinyl plank costs in boxes

The per-sq-ft price is only half the story, because you buy whole boxes and need a 5% allowance for cuts and waste. For a 300 sq ft living area, the arithmetic is: 300 sq ft × 1.05 = 315 sq ft, then boxes = 315 ÷ sq ft per box, rounded up, and material = boxes × box price. The table covers material only. Labour, delivery and HST are not included, because we price those once we know your building type and subfloor.

Colour Sq ft per box Boxes for 315 sq ft Material before HST
Honey Harvest Oak 21.27 sq ft 15 $885.00
Golden Prairie 16.55 sq ft 20 $1,180.00
Golden Hickory 15.77 sq ft 20 $1,180.00
Golden Harvest Oak 14.18 sq ft 23 $1,426.00
Warm Acacia 13.79 sq ft 23 $1,426.00
Honey Ridge 11.82 sq ft 27 $1,593.00
Pacific Teak 13.79 sq ft 23 $1,609.77

A few comparisons fall out of those numbers. Honey Ridge costs $413.00 more than Golden Prairie for the same 300 sq ft, because its boxes hold less (11.82 sq ft against 16.55 sq ft), so you need more of them at the same $59.00 box price. Golden Hickory is $0.18 per sq ft above Golden Prairie, yet both land on 20 boxes and the same $1,180.00, since 315 sq ft rounds up to 20 boxes either way. Pacific Teak and Warm Acacia both need 23 boxes, so the $183.77 gap between them is purely the box price.

How to choose a warm tone for your room

  • Start with light. A dim room or a small one usually does better with golden oak or honey, which keep the floor from swallowing daylight. Larger, brighter rooms can carry the deeper hickory and acacia looks.
  • Look at what is already there. Warm floors sit comfortably beside cream, white and warm grey walls. Cool blue-grey walls can make honey read more orange, so compare the colour against your paint before you commit.
  • Match the wear layer to traffic. Kitchens, entries and family rooms point toward the 20mil colours (Golden Prairie, Honey Ridge, Golden Harvest Oak). The 12mil colours suit bedrooms and living spaces with lighter use.
  • Check the grain, not just the colour. A calm, even grain such as Golden Prairie lets furniture and rugs do the talking, while acacia-style figure becomes the feature of the room.
  • Think about the whole run. In an open-plan layout, one tone looks better flowing through every space, so choose the wear layer for the busiest room and carry the same plank throughout.
  • Judge the real tone in your own light. Screens, renders and lighting all shift how a warm colour looks, so confirm the shade in the room where it will be installed.

Warm vinyl plank FAQ

What colour is honey oak vinyl plank?

In our range, honey oak means a light-to-medium golden tan with a slight amber lean. In our product photos, Honey Ridge is the closest match to that description, and Golden Prairie is a paler golden oak.

Is hickory vinyl plank real hickory?

No. Hickory vinyl is an SPC plank printed with a hickory-style pattern, so there is no hickory wood in it. Golden Hickory is our hickory-look colour, and it is sold by the box like the rest of the range.

Do you carry teak-look and acacia-look vinyl?

Yes: Pacific Teak at $5.08 per sq ft and Warm Acacia at $4.50 per sq ft are both in stock today. Two other colours with teak or acacia in their names are out of stock at the moment.

Are warm vinyl plank colours waterproof?

Each of the six colours featured here has its waterproof field set to "Yes" in our product data. That describes the planks themselves; how the floor performs also depends on the subfloor and installation, which we review when we quote.

Do I need underlay under warm SPC planks?

Where a product title says "with EVA Pad" or "EVA Pad Included", as with Golden Hickory and Warm Acacia, a pad is part of the plank. For other colours, ask us to confirm before you order.
