Red oak's pronounced grain is a natural fit for both traditional and contemporary interiors, and its hardness suits busy family homes. Because it is solid wood, the floor can be sanded and refinished, subject to the amount of usable wood remaining and a professional assessment.
Solid hardwood requires an appropriate subfloor and installation method for the site conditions. Follow the manufacturer's installation instructions and have your installer assess the subfloor and moisture conditions before installation. Use felt pads under furniture, wipe spills promptly, and clean with products made for hardwood flooring.
