If you are searching for laminate flooring trends 2027, the practical question is what you can buy today that fits where the trade is heading. The sources we could quote point toward natural wood looks and wider, longer planks, and our laminate flooring collection already covers part of that ground. This page sets those sources beside our live catalogue: the 130 in-stock laminate floors that list a box coverage, counted by thickness, AC rating and plank width, plus six priced examples. Four more in-stock laminate floors list no box coverage, so they are left out of every count and price below. It is a laminate-only look-ahead; for the all-material view, read what flooring will be in style in 2027.
Quick answer: the 2027 direction and what is on the shelf now
- Direction: a trade survey of NWFA members and magazine readers lists natural wood colors, wide plank flooring and longer boards among the looks expected to see more demand in 2027. The European laminate producers' association said much the same about long and wide planks for 2026.
- Thickness: 64 of the 130 in-stock laminate floors with a listed box coverage are 12mm. The 8mm, 10mm, 14mm and 15mm groups add up to 54 more, and 12 floors have no thickness field filled in.
- AC rating in the title: among those 130 floors, 40 say AC5, 34 say AC3, 17 say AC4 and 5 say AC6. Another 34 titles state no rating.
- Width in the title: 106 of those 130 titles state a plank width in inches. Of those, 42 fall between 7 and 7.99 in, and 5 are 9 in or wider.
- Price: $1.33 to $3.59 per sq ft across those 130 floors, before tax.
What the 2027 sources say about laminate looks
Two limits apply to everything in this section. No laminate maker's 2027 collection statement is quoted here, so this page does not predict what any brand will release next year. And the survey below is a trade survey, not a poll of Toronto homeowners.
The NWFA 2027 Industry Outlook
The National Wood Flooring Association's outlook was reported by Hardwood Floors Magazine on October 1, 2026. Its authors describe it as "an online survey of NWFA members and Hardwood Floors magazine readers." The report says consumer preferences "continue to shift toward natural aesthetics and larger formats heading into 2027." In the same report, "Natural wood colors led the trends identified by respondents," and wide plank flooring and longer boards followed on its list of looks expected to rise in demand.
The outlook also says that competition from wood-look products "such as LVT, WPC, and laminate continues to affect real-wood flooring sales, with 61 percent of respondents reporting a negative impact." That is a statement about wood-flooring sales, not about laminate sales, and it says nothing about laminate durability or price.
EPLF's laminate release, scoped to 2026
EPLF, the Association of the European Producers of Laminate Flooring, published its trends release on December 12, 2025. It covers 2026, not 2027, so read it as the most recent laminate-specific signal rather than a forecast. On formats it reports that "demand for long and wide planks continues to grow," while "classic plank dimensions remain a strong and reliable choice." On surfaces, "Oak remains the dominant design," and matte and ultra matte finishes give "a realistic wood feel that blurs the line between laminate and real timber flooring." The release also names warmer neutral shades. It adds: "Demand for white and traditional grey continues to decrease." Colour is a separate subject, so we leave it there.
Thickness in stock: 12mm leads, and price does not follow thickness
We count thickness from each floor's thickness field, then price every floor per square foot (box price divided by square feet per box). The spans below show how far prices spread inside each group.
| Thickness | Floors counted | Price per sq ft, low to high |
|---|---|---|
| 8mm | 15 | $1.89 to $1.99 |
| 10mm | 22 | $1.79 to $2.99 |
| 12mm | 64 | $1.59 to $3.59 |
| 14mm | 5 | $2.99 to $3.39 |
| 15mm | 12 | $1.33 to $1.99 |
| Thickness field empty | 12 | $1.33 to $2.99 |
Prices checked October 30, 2026. Box prices and coverage come from our current catalogue.
Thicker does not mean dearer here. The 12 floors in the 15mm group top out at $1.99 per sq ft, while the 22 floors in the 10mm group reach $2.99. The five 14mm floors start at $2.99. EGGER's own flooring FAQ makes a related point from the manufacturer's side: "the thickness or gauge of the flooring is not decisive" for whether a laminate suits an area, and the floor needs "the correct stress class." For more on how thickness fits with brands and ratings, see our 2026 laminate buyer's guide.
AC ratings as written in our titles
We took each rating exactly as the product title writes it, without adding or correcting anything.
| AC rating in the title | Floors counted |
|---|---|
| AC3 | 34 |
| AC4 | 17 |
| AC5 | 40 |
| AC6 | 5 |
| No rating stated | 34 |
AC5 is the largest group, and AC4 through AC6 together hold 62 floors. If a title shows no rating, ask us before you order. To see what each class means and which rooms suit it, read what each AC class means, and for brand questions see our guide to AC5 laminate brands in Toronto.
Plank width bands: where the counted titles cluster
Our titles write a plank width but not a length, so this page can count wide boards and cannot count long ones. Of the 130 in-stock titles with a listed box coverage, 106 state a width in inches and 24 do not (one of the 24 gives its width in millimetres).
| Width written in the title | Floors counted |
|---|---|
| Under 5 in | 18 |
| 5 to 5.99 in | 25 |
| 6 to 6.99 in | 16 |
| 7 to 7.99 in | 42 |
| 9 in and wider | 5 |
No title states a width between 8 and 9 in. If wide plank is the 2027 signal you care about, five floors sit in the widest band, which includes the Kronotex 4798 pictured below. Most titled widths fall under 8 in. For how a wider board changes the look and feel of a room, see how a wider plank changes a room.
Decor names: oak and walnut in the titles
Looks are hard to count from a catalogue, because many titles carry a decor code instead of a name. What we can count is the wood named in the title: 38 of the 130 in-stock titles with a listed box coverage name oak and 8 name walnut. That is a count of words, not of looks, and it does not tell you how any one floor is coloured. Judge colour and finish from the product photo and in person.
The Riche Flooring Amber Walnut below is one of the walnut-named floors. Its title also names a 12mm board with an EIR surface.
Six in-stock floors, priced per square foot
These six are all in stock now. Each $/sq ft figure is the box price divided by the box coverage, rounded to the cent.
| Floor | Thickness | AC in title | Box price | Coverage per box | Price per sq ft |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kronotex 4798 | 10mm | AC5 | $57.92 | 19.37 sq ft | $2.99 |
| Swiss Krono Wilderness Oak (K223) | 14mm | AC6 | $41.04 | 13.28 sq ft | $3.09 |
| Amber Walnut, Riche Flooring | 12mm | None stated | $26.03 | 15.4 sq ft | $1.69 |
| Kronotex 2999 | 12mm | AC5 | $46.13 | 14.93 sq ft | $3.09 |
| Swiss Krono Beige (M1002) | 10mm | AC5 | $42.83 | 17.22 sq ft | $2.49 |
| Krono A2221 Chaotic | 12mm | AC5 | $51.94 | 15.93 sq ft | $3.26 |
The Swiss Krono K223 and the Kronotex 2999 both come to $3.09 per sq ft, yet the 14mm K223 box covers 13.28 sq ft and the 12mm 2999 box covers 14.93 sq ft, a difference of 1.65 sq ft. Box size changes what you pay for a room, because you buy whole boxes. For a 200 sq ft area before any waste allowance, the K223 needs 16 boxes (200 / 13.28 = 15.06, rounded up) and costs $656.64, while the 2999 needs 14 boxes (200 / 14.93 = 13.40, rounded up) and costs $645.82. Two floors with the same per-foot price end up $10.82 apart.
At the lower end of this set, the Amber Walnut is $1.69 per sq ft and the 10mm Swiss Krono M1002 is $2.49. At the upper end, the Krono A2221 is $3.26 per sq ft. Open each product page for the full specification before you order, since not every listing carries the same fields.
Reading the 2027 direction against our shelf
- If you want a wide plank: start with the five floors in the 9 in and wider band, then compare box coverage as well as price per sq ft, as the 200 sq ft example shows.
- If you want a thicker board: the 14mm and 15mm groups hold 17 floors between them. EGGER says thickness is not decisive; the floor needs the correct stress class for the area.
- If budget leads: the 12mm group starts at $1.59 and the 15mm group runs from $1.33 to $1.99, so you can compare like with like inside one thickness before crossing groups.
- If the title shows no AC rating: 34 floors are in that position. Ask before you order, and do not assume a class.
- If you are timing a purchase: this page does not forecast 2027 prices or supply, and the sources quoted above say nothing about them.
Frequently asked questions about 2027 laminate
Will wide plank laminate still be popular in 2027?
Trade sources point that way, with limits. NWFA respondents listed wide plank flooring among the looks they expect to be in demand, and EPLF said demand for long and wide planks keeps growing in 2026. Neither source speaks for Toronto homeowners, and neither is a forecast of what local buyers will choose.
Will wood-look laminate finishes look different in 2027?
We cannot say, because no maker 2027 statement is quoted here. The most recent laminate source says matte and ultra matte finishes make the floor feel closer to real wood. Our catalogue records thickness and box coverage but not surface finish, so check the product page or ask us about a specific floor.
How much does laminate cost per square foot right now?
Across the 130 in-stock laminate floors with a listed box coverage, box price divided by coverage runs from $1.33 to $3.59 per sq ft before tax. The six examples above sit between $1.69 and $3.26. Installation, removal and delivery are quoted separately.
Does a thicker plank make laminate a safer 2027 choice?
Not on the evidence here. EGGER's FAQ says thickness is not decisive and that it is important for the chosen floor to have the correct stress class for the area. Our price spans show thick and thin floors across the same range, so thickness alone does not tell you the price either.
Is stone-look laminate part of the 2027 picture?
EPLF's 2026 release says "marble and stone effects are becoming increasingly popular." We do not count stone looks, because our titles rarely say what a decor shows, so ask us what is in stock.
